Best Media player(s) in March?
Mar 8th
If we had a penny for every phone call asking us what media player is the best one to buy we would have enough for a giant size Kit Kat each day
The best media player is a tough one, every forum or review will always have someone who has a negative comment, normally Mr Angry venting his lack of understanding at a poor little media player. It’s not often someone takes time out to write something positive. This makes picking a media player hard work, because as soon as you have made your mind up after weeks of research you read about someone’s bad time with the model you are after.
Unfortunately there is no perfect media player, otherwise we would just sell the one option and leave it at that. As it is we constantly review our media player line up, hence we just said good bye to the WDTV live and Asus Oplay regardless of how well they sold.

What is Amazon S3 and how to use it on a QNAP NAS?
Mar 3rd
What on earth is Amazon S3 you may ask. Well it is a very clever product from Amazon, S3 stands for Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3).
That does not really mean much but the official blurb is:
Amazon S3 is storage for the Internet. It is designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers.
Amazon S3 provides a simple web services interface that can be used to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. It gives any developer access to the same highly scalable, reliable, fast, inexpensive data storage infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of web sites. The service aims to maximize benefits of scale and to pass those benefits on to developers.
It is basically a lot of hard drives stuck together at Amazon HQ designed to allow people to store an almost infinite amount of data for a very cheap price. The best bit is it is secure and you have no danger of the data going missing as its run off the same servers the Amazon website and it’s not likely Amazon is going anywhere
Remember this is not “free” Amazon charge a very small amount of money for each bit of data they store so check out the pricing before uploading all those Mp3’s you want to keep safe.
If you follow the information below it will tell you how to enable your QNAP NAS to perform an online secure backup. Remember while a NAS offers great security due to its redundancy there is nothing like an offsite backup, a RAID won’t save your data in a fire or theft!
The supported models for the QNAP Amazon S3 add-on are:
SS-439 Pro, SS-839 Pro, TS-110, TS-119, TS-210, TS-219, TS-219P, TS-239 Pro, TS-239 Pro II, TS-259 Pro, TS-410, TS-410U, TS-419P, TS-419U, TS-439U-SP, TS-439U-RP, TS-439 Pro, TS-439 Pro II, TS-459 Pro, TS-509 Pro, TS-639 Pro, TS-659 Pro, TS-809 Pro, TS-809U-RP, TS-859 Pro
All these QNAP models are available from us (just give us a call) and can come pre-built with the hard drives you want already fitted.

What DS card for the new DSi XL?
Mar 3rd
In the last few months we have noticed a lot of emails and phone calls from customers asking what DS card to buy for the new DSI XL console. We have (by looking through server logs) noticed customers searching for DSi XL flashcards on our site, and why not we! after all we are UK DS card experts.
As far as we know all DSi flashcards have been tested and found working on the Japanese version of the DSi XL which at the moment runs on version 1.4 firmware. So this should make the DSi cards from our UK store compatible with the UK/EU DSi XL when it is released in March.
However we do suggest you purchase a DS card that can have its firmware upgraded, so if Nintendo release new firmware you have a fighting chance to keep using your DS card.

Dune HD Network Movie Streaming & Blu-ray
Mar 2nd
We have been selling Dune products for a few years now and the 3.0 model really takes media streaming and Blu-ray playback to another level. Digital streaming movies and Blu-ray all in one box is a winner with us.
Having gained awards where ever it was reviewed the Dune BD 3.0 really does stand out. The good thing about the BD Prime is it can be used by non geeks! it is as simple as taking home and plugging in just like a normal Blu-ray player. Unlike the Popcorn Hour C200 the Dune 3.0 comes with a Blu-ray drive built in so no fiddling around.
Like all good media players you can stream movies from your home network (PC or NAS), stream from the internet (TV & Radio) and using the built in torrent even download movies straight to an internal hard drive (just give us a call for a price).
We couldn’t speak higher of the unit and as UK network media player specialists we know they will go fast so grab one while stock lasts.
Full spec of the CD Prime 3.0 here. Don’t forget to have a quick google for multi region patches

Solwise HomePlug Power Socket Networking UK Stock.
Mar 2nd
The official blurb is “Turn any Electrical Socket into a Network Port” How cool does that sound?
We currently sell the Devolo homeplug range here in the UK. Solwise sell some rather funky homeplug’s including a 200Mbps Home Plug AV with 11n WiFi & 2 Ethernet Ports version and the High Power 200Mbps Home Plug.
