General DS Card Install Guide

The following guide provides basic instructions to get you up and running with any of the DS/DSL/DSi cards we sell. For more specific information please see the guide for your card.

These instructions assume you have the DS card as well as a Micro SD Card and of course a USB MicroSD Reader (please note not all DS Cards come with these) the reader is used to transfer any files from your computer to the MicroSD card.
First of all you need to download the latest software for the flash card you have purchased, you can find individual links to manufactures websites from each of the product pages on our website, as an alternative we recommend using: http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ You should always install the latest software on your card. This ensure the highest compatibility with games, the latest features, bugfixes etc.

It’s basically a mirror of every DS flashcard firmware and software file that someone has been collecting.
“Because a large majority of these cards come from Asia, the servers the files are hosted on are slow, unreadable and unupdated for most of the rest of the world. My server is fast, and it should stay up at least 95% of the time.
I also keep an archive of every older file, just in case anyone needs them and the developers’ sites don’t keep them.”

We suggest you make a new folder on your computer, either on the desktop or in your my documents folder and download the latest software to that.

The software often comes as an archived file (.zip)

To open these you will need to use Winzip or Winrar, if you are running Windows XP then you should be able to extract them using the built in Windows XP software.

Once the software file has downloaded you now need to extract the contents,

In this picture we are using Winrar to extract the files to a folder with the same name as the downloaded file (this makes finding the files and keeping them organised easier especially if you update the software again)

In this example I have downloaded the latest R4 software.
As you can see we now have 2 folders and 3 files
Folders:
 _system_
Moonshl

Files:
_DS_MENU.DAT
_DS_MENU.INI
_DS_MSHL.NDS

Our next task is to copy these files to the MicroSD card, insert the MicroSD card into the reader and insert the reader into a spare USB slot on the computer, this will appear as a new disk drive on the computer normally called “Removable Disk” browse to this drive (windows users can press windows key and E) or you can double click my computer.

Select the extracted folder and files and copy (or drag) them to the MicroSD card. The contents of your MicroSD card should now looks like this:

Then simply take out the MicroSD card and place it into the DS Card and power on the console.
In Summary: Download latest software
