The world got an early look at the new Netgear EVA9000 a few weeks back. The popular technology news site www.wired.com have obtained some extra details on the media player including a name change. It seems the EVA9000 is now called the EVA9150.

Netgear plan to sell the device for $400 (£266?) - What it will be in the UK is anyone’s guess, but I’m sure you noticed it was more than a Popcorn Hour. One important thing to note is the price includes a 500GB SATA hard drive, no news on make/model.The EVA9150

How well it performs is unknown and we will have to wait until early January for the first reviews to trickle through.

I have a suspicion that the EVA9000 AND EVA9150 are two different models, one without a hard drive and the other sold with a 500GB drive but don’t hold me to that…

Should we stock them? Let us know if you are interested.

Thanks to the guys at www.newteevee.com we have a demo of the EVA9000 running YouTube @ 720p (commentary from Netgear’s Senior of Product Marketing, David Henry)
